٠٠:٠٢:٠١US President Joe Biden mistakenly referred to Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky as 'President Putin', while standing alongside him ahead of a key press briefing on the 'Ukraine Compact' at the conclusion of the NATO Summit in Washington DC on Thursday.
"And now I want to hand it over to the president of Ukraine who has as much courage as he has determination. Ladies and Gentlemen, president Putin," said Biden.
"President Putin?! He's going to beat President Putin! President Zelensky, I'm so focused on beating Putin, we gotta worry about it. Anyway, Mr President," he continued, to which Zelensky replied: "I am better."
It came after Biden accidentally read a stage direction during a keynote awards ceremony with NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg. On Thursday, he also referred to his VP Kamala Harris as 'Trump' but added that he was still the best qualified person to run against the former president in November.
Biden's health has been the subject of intense media scrutiny in recent months, escalating after a much-criticised TV debate with Donald Trump. The White House was also forced to deny reports he was being treated for Parkinson's after it was claimed his doctor had been meeting with a specialist.
