Description

Deir ez-Zor’s five-star Badia al-Sham hotel has officially reopened its doors to visitors on Friday, marking a milestone after being closed for several years due to extensive damage inflicted during battles with the Islamic State (IS, formerly known as ISIS or ISIL).

Footage filmed on Friday highlights the energetic revival of the hotel, showcasing the restoration of its impressive facilities and capturing moments of joy as guests enjoy the hotel’s inviting swimming pool.

According to Maree Falouh, the hotel’s general manager, the reopening occurred on June 1st, 2024, following comprehensive renovations and restorations aimed at revitalising the venue.

The Badia al-Sham hotel boasts approximately 48 rooms, 5 suites, and 16 chalets, alongside three halls, a diverse range of restaurants, and a swimming pool.

The hotel is projected to create between 100 to 150 job opportunities for the local community, contributing to the region's economic recovery.

Visitor Mohamed al-Dhalli expressed his enthusiasm for the hotel's reopening, highlighting the need for enhanced tourist facilities in the city.

During the years of conflict, the hotel was not only a battleground between the Syrian army and IS forces but also suffered from looting and vandalism.
