Donald Trump showed a chart of immigration figures that he said had 'saved my life' - and condemned rival Kamala Harris's 'nation wrecking border invasion' - as he visited Arizona's Montezuma Pass at the border with Mexico on Thursday.

"This is a very famous chart now because this chart probably saved my life," he said. He was turning to look at the same figures during the failed assassination attempt at the rally in Pennsylvania in July.

"For nearly four years as Border Czar, comrade Kamala has overseen a nation wrecking border invasion," he alleged. "You know, this is nation wrecking, this isn't just like, oh we're going to fix it a little bit later. [It] gets to a point where you can't fix it."

The name comes her role leading diplomatic talks with Northern Triangle (Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador) countries on migration. Trump also claimed that Harris wanted to abolish ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and close 'every ICE Detention Facility'.

Previously Harris promised to close privately run immigration centres 'on day one' during her 2019 presidential campaign.

According to media reports, US Customs and Border Protection reported 3.2 million 'encounters' on the border in 2023 - the highest number for any year of the Biden presidency - compared to 1.4 million, the maximum under Trump, in 2019.
