20-year-old Daunte Wright was pulled over on Sunday afternoon but re-entered the vehicle and continued driving, after which a female police officer fatally fired at him.
Wright crashed his car a few blocks away and was later pronounced dead.
The incident took place about 10 miles (16 kilometres) from the spot where George Floyd, another Black man, was killed during an arrest in May last year.
