Description

Several hundred people in trailers, trucks, and cars protesting COVID-19 safety mandates and measures continued to block downtown Ottawa on Friday.

The week-long protest is concentrated in the area directly in front of the federal parliament buildings.

Under the constant noise of honking truck horns, police were patrolling in the streets while shopping centres and roadways had been forced to close as a result of the blockades.

“We definitely feel like this is an occupation on our city,” said Ottawa resident Clea.

The so-called 'Freedom Convoy' is a loosely organised convoy of trucks protesting COVID-19 measures requiring truckers to show proof of vaccination to enter Canada or quarantine for 14 days.
