Football fans from Argentina and Ecuador were seen flocking to NRG Stadium in Houston to cheer for the national teams at Copa America the first quarterfinal match on Thursday.

Footage shows Argentina fans in their iconic light blue and white jerseys chanting 'Messi' while their Ecuador companions in yellow and blue were chanting 'Yes, we can'. Fans posing for photos and waving flags were also seen.

"It's going to be a tough match, but it is nothing [that we aren't used to]. Argentina knows how to play this kind of matches, finals, so we think we are going forward," Argentina fan Nicolas Espoldi commented.

"The national team is playing in the quarter finals, and we expect to win," added Ecuador fan Aurelio Tapa.

After 90 minutes of the game, the two teams were tied 1-1, with Argentina going through 4-2 on penalties.

The next Copa America match scheduled for Friday at Arlington's AT&T Stadium between Venezuela and Canada will determine who Argentina will face in the semifinal on July 9.
