Description

Newly selected Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz claimed that he "will have Vice President Harris' back every single day" until the election as well as in the White House during a debut at campaign rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

"She believes in the opportunity for every single person to join the middle class, she believes in the promise of America," he expressed talking about Kamala Harris, and emphasised that they 'just got to fight' because 'when we fight, we win'.

He also went on to criticise Republicans, calling them 'creepy' and 'weird as hell', and declaring that he 'can't wait to debate' his rival Republican vice president nominee JD Vance.

US Vice President and Democratic candidate Harris introduced Walz as "a partner who can help build this brighter future. A leader who will help unite our nation and move us forward. A fighter for the middle class."

She added that he is a patriot who believes in America's extraordinary promise of freedom, opportunity and justice 'not just for some but for all'.

Harris picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her vice presidential running mate. Walz is in his second term as the state governor and chairs the Democratic Governors Association.

Following the nomination, former US president and Republican nominee Donald Trump shared a fundraising email saying that Walz would be the 'worst VP in history' and would 'unleash hell on Earth' as well as open borders for 'the worst criminals imaginable.'

US President Joe Biden, who was participating in the presidential campaign until July, announced that he would not be seeking re-election on July 21 via X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Following Biden's statement, Vice President Kamala Harris announced her intention to become the candidate of the Democratic Party.

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. On July 15, the Republican Party convention nominated Donald Trump as their candidate for the 2024 race.
