03:03A ship which had set sail from the Galați Port in Romania, delivered what is believed to be the first European shipment to a Syrian port in over 10 years, on Thursday.
'Princess Maysa' carried 10.5 tonnes of relief aid provided by Romanian citizens and the Syrian community in Romania in aftermath of deadly quakes in the Arab Republic.
"The ship is loaded with food supplies, clothes, and other relief aid to be distributed to the earthquake-hit governorates," said Judge Hassan Naous, Deputy Governor of Tartus after receiving the ship at the Syrian port.
The relief aid came after two earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey on February 6, devastating cities across the two countries. Many buildings collapsed, with Aleppo, Hama and Idlib worst affected in Syria.
