Description

Activists and families whose relatives were killed by police gathered in front of the Minnesota Capitol in St Paul, Monday, to ask for justice and plead for reforms, as George Floyd's death completes one year.

The groups 'Families Supporting Families Against Police Violence' and 'Minnesota Justice Coalition' were among the organisers of the rally.

"The State of Minnesota has failed to bring the change that this moment demands. The bills we have put forward are being tampered with, in an attempt to water them down by elected officials who say anything to get elected and keep power. There is no question about the racism and blatant defiance to change," said the president of the Minnesota Justice Coalition organisation.

Lawmakers were not present in the Capitol building during the rally, as last week's session was adjourned without passing any of the police reform bills on the agenda.
