Description

‘Freedom convoy’ protesters were faced by hundreds of counterprotesters on Saturday in downtown Toronto.

The counterprotest was held by healthcare workers and supporters chanting 'Proud to be vaccinated' and holding up signs reading ‘Hate has no home here’ to rally against the ongoing protests against health measures taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.

"I am so honoured to be here with all of you. Thank you, civilians, thank you, patients, thank you, healthcare workers, thank you all. Because we are all benefiting from our social medicare system that makes healthcare safe and accessible for all", said one of the healthcare workers at the counterprotest.

The so-called 'Freedom Convoy' is a loosely organised convoy of trucks protesting COVID-19 measures requiring truckers to show proof of vaccination to enter Canada or quarantine for 14 days.
