Description

A small group of protesters gathered outside Atlanta's City Hall, on Wednesday, to denounce the decision to reinstate Garrett Rolfe, the police officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks last June.

"Where is the accountability?" said one protester during a speech, as others held signs reading 'Stop police brutality,' and featuring Brooks' face.

"We are here to say that we will continue to fight for justice for Rayshard Brooks," said Hannah Joy, speaking at the protest.

On June 12, 2020, Brooks, a 27-year-old Black man, was reportedly found asleep at the wheel of his car in a parking lot. After he failed a blood alcohol test, Rolfe and Devin Brosnan, another police officer, attempted to handcuff him. Brooks then grabbed Brosnan's taser and tried to run away before Rolfe shot him in the back.

The incident happened weeks after the death of George Floyd, which sparked a worldwide wave of protests against police brutality and racism in the United States.
