Description

Coaches and players commented following the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations match that ended victoriously for Equatorial Guinea against Algeria at a press event in Douala on Sunday.

In front of about a dozen journalists, Equatorial Guinea's national coach Juan Micha and Algeria's national coach Djamel Belmadi as well as player Iban Salvador Edu addressed the audience.

The goal of the Equatorial Guinea player Esteban Obiang in the second half was decisive, making it necessary for the defending champion Algeria to win against Ivory Coast in the last match.

Algeria's coach Djamel Belmadi said he largely takes responsibility for the defeat, and likened a match against Ivory Coast to Everest, due to Algeria's lack of goals in the competition so far.

"As long as I'm not dead, there is hope," he concluded, nevertheless.
