Iran unveiled a new anti-ballistic missile system and a new low-altitude air defence system on Saturday, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Footage filmed in undisclosed locations shows the launch of the missiles of the two systems from batteries placed on the truck, while specialists were supervising the launch from control rooms.

IRNA reported that 'Arman' is the name of the anti-ballistic missile system, while the other air defence system is called 'Azarbakhsh'.

IRNA declared that the Arman system can handle 6 targets at the same time within a range from 120 to 180 kilometres, while Mehr News Agency stated that it is capable of detecting 24 targets. Iran had put a model of the system on display at the ARMY-2023 International Military Forum, hosted by Russia in August 2023.

The recent revelation in Iran comes during a period of high tension in the region as militant groups supported by Tehran have been conducting attacks in Iraq, Syria and the Red Sea, amid the Israel-Hamas war.
