Children were allegedly amongst the victims, and the attack was reportedly the second shelling on Sunday.
The shell of what appeared to be a missile could be seen being dug out from the ground, whilst the area, west of central Tripoli, smoked. Bushes and trees seemed to burn as the ground sustained damaged, and railings were seen bent. Footage also shows the alleged victims in body bags in the hospital.
The shelling occurred as fighting has intensified, despite the UN repeatedly calling for a ceasefire.
The UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) has accused Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Khalifa Haftar, of being behind the attacks, according to local reports. LNA has not responded to the accusations.
Following the ousting of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, the country has been split into areas controlled by the GNA in Tripoli and the northwest, and territories held by eastern-based LNA in Benghazi, led by Haftar.
