Description

Parliamentarians from Finland met Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen in Taipei on Tuesday to discuss regional security and bilateral exchange.

The meeting was organised to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

"Like the European Union, Finland supports Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organisations. This is particularly important in issues related to health, security and the well-being of people in Taiwan and in the entire region," Mikko Karna, a Finnish member of Parliament told Tsai.

Amid under-the-skin tensions simmering with Beijing, the Finnish parliamentarian stressed, "We must together condemn China’s aggression towards Taiwan. Taiwan has the right to decide for its own future."

The Finnish delegation is expected to remain in Taiwan until Thursday during which further discussions will be held to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.
