Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte cast his ballot in the country’s mid-term elections in Davao City in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, on Monday.
The footage shows Duterte arriving at the polling station and later commenting on his Buerger's Disease, which had eroded the skin on his fingers, making finger-scanning for voting trickier. He then takes a seat to fill in his ballot.
The elections are projected to strengthen Duterte’s PDP–Laban party.
About 60 million voters are expected to cast their ballots during the election, in which a dozen Senate seats and 200 seats in the House of Representatives are up for grabs in this year’s election, which comes three years into Duterte’s presidency. His hard-line policies on fighting crime have reportedly led to drug dealers and users being killed by the thousands since he was elected.
