International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach denounced the 'tremendous coldness' levelled at Russian skater Kamila Valieva by her closest entourage after her mistake-filled figure skating routine on Thursday.
"I must say I was very, very disturbed yesterday when I watched the competition on TV and saw first in her performance how high the pressure on her must have been," said the IOC chief in remarks delivered in Beijing on Friday.
Valieva, who was allowed to continue competing at the Games despite the emergence of a positive test result recorded prior to the Olympics, came in fourth in the figure skating event.
