Description

Palestinian displaced girls in Gaza's camps practice boxing to release negative energy and entertain themselves, despite limited resources and a lack of equipment due to the ongoing war, as seen in the footage filmed on Sunday.

"I spoke with the camp director, where there are more than 60 tents, about my desire to train the girls to help them overcome their difficult psychological condition," said Osama Ayoub, a boxing coach. "The director liked the idea, and I personally continued the training. Despite limited resources, I received a great response from the entire camp."

Girls can be seen training with their coach, as well as shots of them sparring and boxing with each other.

"After 9 months of war, we felt suffocated and trapped, facing psychological crises. Practising this sport helped us to release negative energy and made us stronger, more determined and focused," shared Hala Ayoub, a boxer. "My goal is to participate in international championships and fulfil my dream of raising the Palestinian flag when the war ends".

"The goal of these activities is to get rid of negative energy and cope with the pain and fatigue inside us. We used to practise the sport in a club with the necessary equipment and possibilities, which made it easier," explained Bilsan Ayoub, a boxer. "Now, during the war, we have been displaced to the south where there are no tools or equipment".

The war between Israel and Hamas broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on northern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people and kidnapping more than 200 others, mostly civilians.

In turn, Israel launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursions, killing at least 37,877 Palestinians and injuring more than 86,969 others as of the time of publication.
