Description

On Thursday, hundreds of people demonstrated in front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Jerusalem residence, calling for his resignation and a prisoner swap deal with Hamas.

Footage captures demonstrators marching through the streets of Jerusalem, heading to Netanyahu's home on Gaza Street where police have erected a barricade.

"We are demonstrating against a corrupt government which has failed in every sense, they have failed in the war and they declined to have an investigation," said Beni, a demonstrator.

“Sixty per cent of the population is against them but they don’t go down, they keep corruption in the government and they actually want to eliminate democracy. We will not give up and we will fight until the very last day,” he continued.

“We feel that Israel doesn’t have a leadership that takes it in any direction, the war is going on without any strategy, the hostages are dying and no one cares,” noted fellow demonstrator Emir.

Netanyahu had previously emphasized that the war in Gaza ‘will not stop’ until its aims have been achieved, including the return of prisoners and the ‘elimination of Hamas’.

The protest comes amid ceasefire negotiations in Doha attended by a Mossad delegation, following an as yet undisclosed response by Hamas to the Israeli peace proposal earlier announced by US President Joe Biden.

The Hamas-Israel war erupted after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

In the enclave, the IDF launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursions, killing at least 38,011 Palestinians and injuring more than 87,445 others as of the time of publication.
