Description

Alleged Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, resulting in casualties and injuries.

Footage from the scene shows Akram Mesbah Matar mourning the loss of several family members killed in the alleged strike, while a child from the Matar family is seen with visible wounds and burns on the floor of a hospital.

The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) claimed that four Palestinians were killed and others were injured in the airstrike on a house belonging to the Matar family in the western part of the Nuseirat camp. The injured were transported to Al-Awda and Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospitals.

The Israeli military has not directly addressed the incident but has said that operations in central Gaza are ongoing. In a press release on Friday, the military also said it was working to 'neutralise' what it described as a 'large number of terrorists and to dismantle terrorist infrastructure'. The statement also detailed that tank shells were fired in response to what was identified as a threat to soldiers.

Fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200 civilians, according to Israeli officials.

In Gaza, the Israeli army launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursion, killing at least 39,000 Palestinians and injuring more than 91,000 since October 7.
