A ceremony marking the one-year anniversary of Iranian top General Qassem Soleimani's death was held in the city of Kerman, his birthplace, on Sunday.
High ranking officials and members of the public attended the ceremony, following safety guidelines due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Mourners could be seen crying and laying flowers on Soleimani's tomb.
"We continue to ask our officials, our elders, our dear leader who is grieving, to exact severe revenge on the United States and those criminals whose hands were involved in the cowardly assassination of our commander," said Kerman resident Jalali.
"To the Westerners, to Israel and to those who martyred the commander, I say that we are all Qassem Soleimani," said Kerman resident Zahra Sarbazi.
Soleimani was killed during a US-directed drone attack whilst visiting Baghdad on January 3, 2020.
During a recent meeting with the General's family, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised to avenge the assassination, saying that the US will face 'harsh' repercussions.
