Dozens gathered outside the Israeli Consulate in Houston on Tuesday to demand an end to the Jewish state's operations in Gaza and Lebanon and to call on the United States government to impose an arms embargo on Tel Aviv.

"We gather here to show that the Houston community stands against genocide and apartheid and the Israeli Consulate represents one facet of Israel's expansive system of occupation and apartheid against our people," said one protester, Farid Hammed.

Footage shows police officers patrolling the area and monitoring the demonstration as protesters chanted while waving Palestinian and Lebanese flags and holding signs reading 'End weapons shipments to Israel now' 'Resistance against occupation is a human right' and 'End the war on Gaza and Lebanon!'.

"We're nearing one year since October 7th, since the start of this latest genocidal campaign and we've been out here almost every single week, multiple times a week - nothing is going to stop us, especially the police's intimidation," another protester stated, Andula Almahir.

"We're not intimidated because we know we're on the side of justice, we know that history is on our side and we'll keep showing up every single day," he continued.

This protest comes after the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Monday the launch of a broader military operation dubbed 'Operation Northern Arrows' in which it conducted extensive airstrikes across Lebanon, warning civilians to evacuate settlements in southern regions and the Bekaa Valley.

Tensions in southern Lebanon have escalated over the past week following the mass explosions of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah and the Israeli shelling of Beirut's southern suburb, which has killed Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqeel.

In response, Hezbollah fired rockets towards northern Israel while the IDF stated it had struck 1,500 Hezbollah positions in Lebanon.

At least 569 people have been killed and 1,835 others wounded, the Lebanese Ministry of Health reported at the time of publication.
