Relations between the EU and Russia are at a "low point" but creating “a wall of silence is not an option”, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel said at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on Friday.
"Certainly our relations are on the severe strain and the Navalny case is a low point in our relation, but we are connected not only by geography but for a wide range of historical, cultural and economic ties," the EU foreign policy chief stated.
Lavrov in his turn stressed that Moscow is "ready to discuss every topic" noting that the main issue at the moment "is the absence of normality in relations between Russia and the EU."
" I think that detailed and fair overview of relations between Russia and the EU is badly needed. I do hope that besides any questions you might want to point out we will discuss this fundamental matter," the Russian diplomat said.
