Description

Police officers were seen entering the Ecuadorian embassy in London on Sunday, two days after Wikileaks claimed that its founder Julian Assange would soon be expelled from the building.

Footage shows two armed police officers knocking on the door and successfully gaining entrance to the building. Upon leaving the building the two appeared to converse with the occupants of a civilian vehicle parked outside the embassy before driving off in a police car.

Later on two other officers were seen walking around the side of the embassy before attempting to look through the doorway, before they too left.

Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno recently reportedly accused Assange of repeatedly breaching the conditions of his asylum, however, Wikileaks alleges that the expulsion is due to his role in exposing a corruption scandal that Moreno was allegedly embroiled in.

On Friday, Wikileaks claimed that Assange was due to be expelled from the embassy in a matter of "hours to days."

Ecuador has denied the reports that Assange is to be expelled from its London embassy.

The WikiLeaks founder first moved into the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2012, in order to avoid extradition to Sweden on sexual assault allegations. While that investigation was dropped by the judiciary, Assange still faces charges in the UK for violating bail conditions by fleeing to the embassy, as well as the possibility of extradition to the United States for publishing sensitive government information on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
