Description

Nord Stream 2 has yet to fully comply with European law, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said in Kiev on Monday, after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.

The German FM also stressed "European solidarity with Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity" and assured that any aggression against the country would have a "high price to pay."

The politician also said that if the situation escalates on the Russian side, West powers will take action on Nord Stream 2.

For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that "Ukraine has fulfilled its part of the Paris summit decisions" and "is ready to move in all directions of the Minsk agreements in the Trilateral Contact Group".

However, the country needs "Russia's willingness to work in good faith both in the Normandy format and in the Trilateral Contact Group" for the next steps, he added.

The construction of the Nord Stream 2pipeline was fully completed in September, although in order to start its operations, the project needs to be certified by German and European regulators.
