Description

Minor clashes erupted between a handful of Palestinian protesters and Israeli forces in East Jerusalem on Thursday during the demolition of the apartment of Palestinian Fadi Jamjoom in Shuafat refugee camp in East Jerusalem on Thursday.

According to media reports, Jamjoom killed two and injured four more Israelis near a bus station during the February attack outside Ashdod and was shot dead by an off-duty reserve soldier at scene.

Footage filmed on Thursday shows at least two explosions in an apartment, located on the eighth floor of a ten-storey residential building in Shuafat refugee camp. Israeli forces blocking the area as well as people clearing rubble and debris following the demolition are also seen on the footage.

According to local media reports, the Israeli forces evacuated the residents from the building prior to demolition. The evicted Jamjoom's family, including his wife and four children, was left homeless following the demolition.

The camp's resident recalled that the demolition started early in the morning, and 'representatives of engineering unit' were deployed on site.

"The doors are sealed with red wax and nobody is allowed to approach this area," he went on, adding that "explosion affected the entire building and its foundation."

Local media reported, that on February 18 Israeli soldiers raided Jamjoum's family home, and launched the preparations for its demolition.

Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200, according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a 'complete siege' of Gaza, with a large-scale campaign of air strikes. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week, with Israeli leaders vowing to 'wipe out' Hamas. Palestinian officials reported that more than 34,700 people had been killed at the time of publication.

The IDF claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted in the response. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region.
