Description

Members of the Rapid Support Force (RSF) celebrated the capture of one of the major roads in the region of Khartoum on Friday.

Footage recorded in Madani Street, in Giad Industrial City, shows members of the paramilitary group celebrating the control of the road while holding guns on top of military vehicles.

According to local media, the road is a supply line for the Sudanese army and connects the capital to the states of Gezira, Al Qadarif, Kassala, and the city of Port Sudan.

A power struggle between the army, led by Sudan’s de facto ruler al-Burhan, and the RSF of deputy leader General 'Hemedti’ Mohamed Hamdan Dagolo, has been ongoing in recent years, although flared up last Saturday.

The number of civilian casualties has risen to 243 since the beginning of the conflict, with 1,335 injured, according to the Doctors’ Syndicate. 55 hospitals are reportedly out of action due to the fighting.
