Description

Footage taken in Jerusalem on Monday shows the arrest of one of the suspects after a car slammed into pedestrians in Jerusalem on Monday, leaving three injured.

The footage shows police detaining the suspect with his hands behind his back and his head covered as the officers escorted him out of a crowd of ultra-Orthodox Israelis watching the scene.

Three people were minorly injured in the attack according to authorities. The two men reportedly slammed their car into a group of ultra-Orthodox Israelis and fled the scene, leaving behind a makeshift submachine gun and triggering a manhunt. In a statement, police labelled the incident a terrorist attack

A strong security presence was seen in Jerusalem with IDF soldiers patrolling the city's streets and a police surveillance plane flying overhead.

The incident comes as fighting continues in Gaza for the seventh month after Hamas launched an unprecedented attack on southern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping over 200 according to Israeli officials.

Israel declared war on the group and a 'complete siege' of Gaza, with a large-scale campaign of air strikes. A ground incursion began at the end of the third week, with Israeli leaders vowing to 'wipe out' Hamas.

Palestinian officials reported that at least 34,000 people had been killed.

The IDF claimed that Hamas locations and infrastructure were targeted in the response. However, United Nations experts warned against 'collective punishment' for the people of Gaza, before predicting a 'humanitarian crisis' and then claimed that 'hell is settling in' for the region.
