Iranian parliament members celebrated Iran's overnight attack involving hundreds of drones and missiles against Israel during the morning session in Tehran on Sunday.

The footage features parliament representatives gathering in the central part of the assembly, raising hands and chanting slogans such as 'death to Isreal', 'revolutionary IRGC, thank you, thank you' and 'the blood in our veins is a gift to our leader.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a wave of more than 300 drones and missiles from Iran towards Israel late Saturday night bringing a conflict that had been largely waged through proxies into the open for the first time. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that 99% of the attack was intercepted by air defence systems.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed the attack through a statement published by Iranian state TV.

The international community received the news of the escalation of tensions between Iran and Israel with alarm. The UN, US, UK, France and Germany, among other Western nations, condemned the Iranian action while others including Russia, Jordan, Qatar urged all parties to practice restraint in order to avoid a wider escalation of the conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on X, formally Twitter “We intercepted, we repelled, together we shall win.”

Israel has since moved to reopen its airspace, however Israeli officials reportedly stated that the incident is not over yet.

The Iranian attack comes in retaliation to an air strike, allegedly launched by the Israeli Air Force from the Golan Heights, which destroyed the former Iranian consulate in Damascus, reportedly killing 13 people, including two of Tehran's top commanders.

Iran's National Security Council lodged a formal complaint with the UN Security Council, accusing Israel of a 'terrorist attack on diplomatic premises of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Syria.'

Syrian Health Minister Hassan al-Ghabbash reported additional casualties among Syrian citizens, while Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said his country reserved the right to retaliate.

Israel refrained from acknowledging responsibility for the strike. However, a spokesperson stated that the target was a 'military building of Quds forces,' alluding to a division of the IRGC.

After the direct attack, US President Joe Biden called for emergency meetings with his top national security advisors. The White House affirmed Washington's commitment to supporting Israel's defense.

The United Nations Security Council is reportedly scheduled to convene on Sunday following Israel's request for condemnation of Iran's assault.
