Description

An Israeli airstrike flattened a building in the southern Beirut suburb of Tayouneh on Friday after residents were warned to evacuate the area by the IDF.

Footage shows a huge fireball and debris flying through the air as the missile makes impact. Moments later, the building is seen collapsing in a thick plume of smoke and dust. Civil Defence crews are shown clearing rubble and extinguishing fires in the aftermath.

Prior to the strike, an IDF spokesperson warned 'all residents in the southern suburbs' that they were "in the vicinity of Hezbollah facilities and interests".

On September 23, the Israeli army launched 'Operation Northern Arrows' to return residents of northern Israel to their homes. The army then began a 'limited' ground operation in Southern Lebanon.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli bombardment since October 8, 2023, has killed more than 3,365 people and injured more than 14,344, while Hezbollah has continued its rocket attacks on areas of northern Israel, including Haifa, Safed, and Tel Aviv.

Tensions between Lebanon and Israel escalated in mid-September after the explosion of wireless devices used by Hezbollah and the Israeli raids on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which targeted Hezbollah military commanders. This came less than a year after the start of border clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army on October 8, 2023, one day after the Israel-Hamas war.
