The 2021 African Nations Championship top goalscorer and most valuable player award winner, Sofiane Rahimi, expressed his gratitude to the football club close to his heart, Raja Casablanca on Thursday, after reports regarding offers he had received from European and Gulf region football clubs.

"Raja is my first and second family. Everyone knows, I grew up and was born on the pitch and among the team. Thank God, I wanted to fulfill my dream to play in the team, after my wish was accomplished, my goal had been to win titles, and now I have been awarded three titles with Raja Casablanca,” Rahimi said.

"Sufiane was born on the day we had won the win the Moroccon Champions League in Tangier... then our former president, Hajj Hanat said he would name him the hero," said Sofiane's father, Hajj Mohamed Rahimi, who has been working for Raja Casablanca for five decades.

"Sofiane used to go straight to the stadium when he woke up in the morning and sneak among the top players during their rehearsals,” stated Sofiane.

According reports in the Italian media, Rahimi’s brilliance drew the attention of Italian Serie A teams such as Milan and Juventus, as well as French side Olympique de Marseille.

Rahimi has become highly desired, especially after he was crowned two times top scorer as well as the best player award in the latest edition of the African Nations Championship for local African players recently held in Cameroon.

Despite the interest from Europe's big leagues, Raja Casablanca has announced last Tuesday that Rahimi's contract has been extended for another five years. Rahimi in turn, commented by saying: "My contract with Raja is valid. It was renewed recently. As for other offers, I can only tell you that I will check them out at the end of the season."
