The bodies of late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi along with the seven other victims of the helicopter crash this weekend arrived at the Mehrabad Airport in Tehran on Tuesday.

Footage shows soldiers carrying the victims’ caskets while marching as Iranian officials salute the fallen leaders during the procession.

Raisi, his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others were confirmed dead by state media and officials after their helicopter came down in the mountains of northern Iran during heavy fog on Sunday. No official cause has been reported at time of publication.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared five days of national mourning. First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber will take over as acting president for an interim period, with elections scheduled after 50 days. Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani becomes acting foreign minister.

Global leaders, including those from Russia, India, Iraq, Syria, Egypt and other nations extended their condolences. Raisi, a conservative cleric closely associated with the Supreme Leader, was elected in 2021.
