03:20Egyptian national football team captain Mo Salah called for a mentality change in the team's strategy during a press conference held in Garoua on Saturday after a narrow win against Guinea Bissau in the group stages of the African Cup of Nations.
Egypt clinched the 1-0 victory, after a goal from Salah in the 69th minute but the Egyptians were shocked in the 82nd minute when an equaliser was scored by Guinea-Bissau, which was later cancelled by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
"Since 2010 we always have two new players, new players, new players, that's really tough for the coach but that means, a lot people get angry with me when I say that we have to change our mentality, I have to say it again and again, we have to change our mentality so the players can be consistent for 10 years at least", said Salah, captain of Egyptian national team.
Carlos Queiroz the coach of Egypt said after the match that his team "deserved to win" and that he agreed with the decision to cancel the Guinea-Bissau equaliser.
"I just saw the image on the television and I saw it very carefully before I come here and there is not doubt that the VAR made a good decision because the player grabbed the neck of our player and it is clear a [foul]," said Queiroz.
High stakes were involved for the Egyptians after a disappointing 1-0 loss to Nigeria in the first match of the tournament.
They are currently in the second place of group D with 3 points, behind Nigeria, which has 6.
