Description

Local residents gave their opinion on Joe Biden's inauguration as the new US president on Wednesday, just hours before the inauguration ceremony.

Several people commented on the departure of Donald Trump close to the border checkpoint in Tijuana and were optimistic about the change of administration in their northern neighbour.

"It is a very big rest, the change is very positive," said one, adding that "This guy [Donald Trump] showed his lack of respect during four years, not only for Mexico but for the whole world. He made himself the enemy of half of the world."

Gustavo Romero Sanchez, another Tijuana resident, stated that "it is good that Trump leaves because we have lived with racism these years."

President-elect Biden inauguration will take place on Wednesday with multiple restrictions due to the ongoing COVID pandemic and heavy security. The traditional luncheon was cancelled and people are discouraged from travelling to DC for the ceremony.
