China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) spokesperson Lin Jian during the press conference in Beijing on Tuesday urged the relevant parties 'to cool down situation' amid Beirut and Jerusalem hostilities.

"China is closely following the current tensions between Lebanon and Israel and feels deeply shocked by the heavy casualties inflicted by relevant military operations. China opposes any infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty and security. We oppose and condemn any move that harms innocent civilians. We call on relevant parties to take measures immediately to cool down the situation, prevent further escalation of tensions," MOFA spokesperson said.

Jian also criticised the US government plan to ban Chinese technology in vehicles across the US, mentioning potential security risks for the citizens of the country. He claimed that Washington has adopted 'discriminatory practices' against certain countries, which disrupt international trade and investment, undermine the stability of the global supply chain, according to Jian.

"What the US needs to do is to stop bringing down and containing other countries in the name of national security and create an open, fair, transparent and non-discriminatory business environment for companies from all countries. China will firmly safeguard its lawful rights and interests," he said.

"We must build a fair and just future. We must promote an equal and orderly multipolar world, strengthen the authority of international rule of law, resist the jungle law of the strong bullying the weak, oppose hegemonic acts such as unilateral sanctions, and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries," Jian added.

China's MOFA spokesperson also commented on the current situation involving Israel and Hezbollah, saying that the international community should work together to ease the situation and that China opposes any violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and security.

"No matter how the situation may evolve, China will stand on the side of justice, and stay committed to keeping the Middle East peaceful and stable. We stand ready to work with all parties and continue making relentless efforts for peace and stability in the region," Jian declared.

Commenting on the remarks made by the former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig about his spell inside a Chinese prison, claiming he was 'psychologically tortured' inside the cell, Jian declared that 'lies and smears can’t change the fact that the person you mentioned committed illegal activities'.
