Description

A heavy National Guard presence was seen on Wednesday night in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, as tensions run high following the death of Daunte Wright.

National Guard forces were seen guarding area around the police station, where crowds of protesters were heading.

"I feel like I need to be present as a white woman, showing my support for my brothers and sisters here. Because that woman was wrong and committed murder, not second-degree manslaughter. That was strict murder and the world needs to hear it," said Angie, one of the protesters.

Protests started after Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, was shot during a traffic stop on Sunday. According to police, the officer intended to use a taser but mistakenly pulled her gun.

Brooklyn Center is right outside Minneapolis where tensions were already high amid the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former police officer charged with killing George Floyd.
