Real Madrid’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti held a press conference on Monday in Madrid ahead of the club’s first match in this year’s UEFA Champions League season and affirmed that the team’s squad is better than the one that won the last tournament in June.

“The squad is what you have seen, and what has happened. We have lost two important players, Nacho and Toni Kroos, and we have lost Joselu. And these players have been replaced by the world's best player or one of the best players in the world. Do we have a better squad than last year? I think so," he said.

Ancelotti also commented on the recent insults towards the club’s player, Vinicius Jr., saying that this is something he ‘cannot stand’.

“I understand whistling at an opponent, but to be whistled at and insulted in the warm-up, who can put up with that? It's not normal," the coach stated.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s right-back Dani Carvajal mentioned the fact that this Tuesday’s match will mark French striker Kylian Mbappe’s first UEFA Champions League game wearing the Spanish club’s jersey and said that he does not believe that the match will ‘weigh on Mbappe’, as the French is an experienced player, according to Carvajal.

“He will feel a very nice and special atmosphere and a very special feeling, and I'm sure he will remember it forever," he declared.

Real Madrid takes on Stuttgart on Tuesday night at Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid.
