Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky repeatedly referred to his own 'peace plan' to end the conflict with Russia - and suggested dissenting voices in China, Brazil, Europe and Africa had nefarious motives - during his speech at the High-level Debate of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.

"This is the peace formula. What part of this could be unacceptable to anyone who upholds the UN Charter? If someone in the world seeks alternatives to any of these points or tries to ignore any of them, it likely means they themselves want to do a part of what Putin is doing," he claimed.

"When the Chinese-Brazilian duo tries to grow into a choir of voices, with someone in Europe, with someone in Africa saying something alternative to a full and just peace, the question arises, what is the true interest? Everyone must understand, you will not boost, your power at Ukraine's expense," he added.

China and the African nations have put forward plans and proposals for peace in Ukraine, and have said they only want a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Zelensky also claimed the support of 'nearly 100' countries for his own plan, which he said was a 'global community' with "Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, the Pacific region all united by the peace formula."

The Ukrainian leader added that "Russia has destroyed all our thermal power plants and a large part of our hydroelectric capacity" and also alleged that "Putin does seem to be planning attacks on our nuclear power plants and their infrastructure" - which Moscow has repeatedly denied.

"[Russia is] aiming to disconnect the plants from the power grid with the help of satellites, by the way, ladies and gentlemen, by the way, satellites of other countries," he claimed.

He added that Russia had found 'very special buddies' in North Korea and Iran and warned that "every neighbour of Russia in Europe and Central Asia feels that the war could come to them as well."

Around 100 countries participated in the first 'peace summit' on Ukraine in Switzerland while 80 agreed to the final statement. Key Global South nations like India, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia and Mexico, as well as the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia all took part but were among those not endorsing the final outcome. Brazil, attending as an 'observer', also did not sign, while China did not send an envoy.

At an earlier UNSC meeting on Tuesday, Zelensky claimed Russia needed to be 'forced' into peace. Moscow has said that any plan would need to respect the 'realities' of the situation on the ground and has questioned whether Zelensky, whose presidential term expired earlier this year, has the authority to agree a deal.
