Description

Protesters held a rally against last week's police killing of Andrew Brown, on the outskirts of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on Thursday evening.

Demonstrators gathered at Morgan's Corner on Highway 17 between 18.00 and 19.30 local time just ahead of a local curfew.

Protesters rallied and marched near the highway, calling on police to release footage of the incident. State Troopers provided protection as agreed upon by the organisers and law enforcement.

The protest took place after a Pasquotank County judge ruled not to release the full police body cam footage of the shooting to the public saying it could bias a jury in the case of a trial.

Officers shot and killed Andrew Brown, a 42-year-old Black man, on Wednesday, April 21, while trying to carry out a search warrant in Elizabeth City.
