Lebanese photojournalist Ahmed Ghanem was wounded in an alleged Israeli strike which hit near his home in Kafr Shuba in the south of the country on Thursday.
Footage shows an injured Ghanem lying on a bed in the Emergency Department at the Marjayoun Governmental Hospital.
“I was at home covering the strikes in our area. I was covering the shelling in Kafr Hammam. Meanwhile, the Israeli warplanes were flying over the area. Minutes later, I heard a whistle; it was a missile, I realized it was a missile,” the journalist said.
“I didn’t realize it was targeting my house; I thought it was targeting the village, so I got up to take photos. At this moment, while I was standing, the missile hit the wall next to me, and that protected me. Thank God I was unharmed,” he added.
On Thursday, tensions escalated along the Lebanon-Israel borders after Hezbollah launched rocket attacks in response to the death of senior commander Mohammed Nasser Nehmeh, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Wednesday.
The Lebanese group said it had carried out more than 200 drone and rocket attacks against IDF positions in northern Israel. In turn, the IDF launched airstrikes targeting Hezbollah locations in several villages in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah and Palestinian factions have been exchanging cross-border fire with Israeli forces since October 8, one day after the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.
