Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that his summit with US President Joe Biden was cordial and that they were able to agree on a number of issues.
“The atmosphere at the summit was quite friendly. It seems to me that we have managed to understand each other and to agree on our positions on key issues,” Putin said during a videoconference with graduates of the personnel reserve development program of the Higher School of Public Administration.
He added that Moscow and Washington’s viewpoints still differ but noted that the sides “managed to define directions or touchpoints, which will help us to speak about a possible rapprochement in the future.”
Putin and Biden met in Geneva on Wednesday for a summit, discussing a wide range of topics, including arms control, cybersecurity, human rights, and the situation in Ukraine, among other issues.
