Description

Beijing locals commented on the Sino-US relations near Beijing's Sanlitun shopping district area on Tuesday, a day before US President-elect Joe Biden takes office.

"When Biden takes office, I want to see how he will carry out these promises to the American people in the future. In particular, he said that he would solve the problem of the pandemic immediately after taking office. I would like to see how he implements these guarantees after he takes office," local resident Mr. Ma said.

People also touched on the recent US Capitol attack.

"There are also some irrational people in the United States, and some opponents have committed acts of riots or violations of the rule of law to protect their interests, which I strongly disagree with to a large extent," Mr. Yang said.

"The US Government did not carry out a large-scale crackdown on this riot or slaughtered rioters, which fully reflects the rule of law in the United States," he added.

Biden and Vice-president elect Kamala Harris are expected to be officially inaugurated on Wednesday, in a scaled-down ceremony, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and in light of the violent storming of the Capitol.
