Russian peacekeepers escorted another convoy of buses with displaced people returning to Nagorno-Karabakh from Armenia on Thursday, the Russian Defence Ministry said.

A total of 1,950 people accompanied by the peacekeepers and military police patrols arrived in Stepanakert by buses from Yerevan.

Since November 14, Russian peacekeepers have helped more than 28,000 people to return to Nagorno-Karabakh, according to the MoD.

Following more than six weeks of hostilities, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a Russian-brokered deal to end the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 9.

Under the terms of the deal, 1,960 Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region to monitor the ceasefire.
