Description

Protesters gathered outside the Russian embassy in Berlin on Sunday, where they had rallied following the death of the opposition politician Alexei Navalny.

The footage shows protesters gathering, chanting, holding pictures of Navalny, and placing bouquets on the ground.

"When we bury him, we will also talk, and I propose to talk. We are not burying Navalny because Navalny’s life will continue with us," said a speaker during the rally.

In January 2021, Navalny returned to Moscow after being treated in Germany for an alleged poisoning incident on a Russian flight in August 2020.

Upon his arrival, he was initially detained at the Moscow airport and later sentenced to two and a half years in prison for violating parole related to a 2014 embezzlement conviction. Subsequently, he faced additional charges of fraud and contempt of court, resulting in an additional nine-year prison term.

Navalny vehemently asserted that all accusations against him were politically motivated. In August 2023, he was handed a 19-year sentence for charges including incitement and financing of extremism.
