Description

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng launched its Mona M03 electric sedan in Beijing on Tuesday.

He Xiaopeng, Chairman and CEO of Xpeng Motors, introduced the vehicle, calling it “the best gift for young people who have just entered the workplace, love life, and like technology.”

The Mona M03 is Xpeng's most affordable model, designed to compete with Tesla's Model 3, and priced from 119,800 yuan (£14,940).

It comes in three versions: a 515-kilometre range model, a 620-kilometre version, and the M03 Max at 155,800 yuan. According to the firm, 10,000 units sold within an hour of its launch.

At the press conference, Xpeng also introduced its new "Xpeng Turing" chip and AI system, claiming it was the world's first chip that can be used in robots, AI cars, and flying cars.

“I think the price is very cheap, but the cost performance ratio is very high. The current MAX version is only over 150,000 yuan, and I think it's very affordable," said Miss Wang, a current owner.

Xpeng Motors invested 4 billion yuan in developing the Mona M03, with half of sales over the next decade are expected to come from international markets, including Europe.
