Description

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators took to the streets of Paris to express their concerns about the potential impact of a nationalist government on France's foreign policy, particularly regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"At a time when there is a risk of the far right coming to power, it is very important to remember that we are on the right side of history," said a demonstrator. "We're not just demonstrating for Palestine, but also for France, for human rights, because what binds us all together are the values of France: liberty, equality and fraternity".

Footage shows demonstrators marching with Palestinian flags, flares and placards reading 'To stand with Palestine is to stand with humanity' and 'Gaza Stop Genocide'.

"If La France Insoumise, or the New Popular Front, wins, it will be good for Palestine. You have to vote for them because if the far right wins, it will be bad, we already know that, Netanyahu is very happy with that, it will help the Zionists," claimed one of the demonstrators. "The left has to win, and Macron, with the extreme centre, is in fact the extreme right in disguise, so it's good that he's banned, that it's over".

"If the Rassemblement National arrives, we're in deep trouble. Especially people like me and my children," said another demonstrator. "If it's La France Insoumise, I hope we'll have a better chance of getting things moving. Before the elections, they were very active for Palestine, so I hope that it will be Le Nouveau Front Populaire [the name of the left-wing coalition for the legislative elections] that wins because they are the most humane".

The war between Israel and Hamas broke out after the Palestinian group launched an unprecedented attack on northern Israel on October 7, killing 1,139 people and kidnapping more than 200 others, mostly civilians.

In turn, Israel launched a large-scale campaign of airstrikes and ground incursions, killing at least 37,877 Palestinians and injuring more than 86,969 others as of the time of publication.
