An entire chapter of the Quran, the al-Ikhlas surah, has been written on a tiny fig seed by micro-sculptor Necati Korkmaz, who spoke about the feat in Kusadasi, western Turkey, on Monday.
"After six months of work, we have managed to fit the al-Ikhlas surah [chapter of the Quran] on a fig seed, four hundred years after Master Said Kaseem Qubai fit it on rice," said Korkmaz.
He explained that a hair from a small spider was used as a brush, and additionally, a bee's sting was used for retouching.
"The item will be displayed from today onwards, due to Ramadan, in Kusadasi Miniature Arts Museum, as the smallest calligraphic item in the world," he added.
Korkmaz also spoke of another one of his achievements - a handwritten miniature Quran, written over five years ago. "
This 120 pages item has been completed in three years. The whole item is handwritten. The frame of the pages is decorated with gold foils. Also, all pages decorated with golden," he said.
"This Quran has been written in the same way that a big Quran would have been written, with great patience, and was completed in three and a half years with a fox whisker," he added.
