Footage filmed in Odessa on Saturday shows a heavily damaged one-storey residential building while the rescuers are seen eliminating the consequences of the reported shelling on site.
According to the head of the Odessa Regional State Administration (OVA), Oleg Kiper, at least three people were injured and one killed amid reported shelling.
"Woman born in 1962 has 70 percent body burns and severe burn shock, her daughter, born 1993, also received severe burns of 10 percent of her body and numerous bone fractures. Another victim, a 72-year-old woman, who was trapped under the rubble for almost two hours, received thermal burns," reported Kiper in his official Telegram channel, adding that debris removal operation is still ongoing.
Odessa Regional State Administration alleged that Moscow targeted the residential area by launching two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, three X-59 guided missiles, and 12 Shahed attack drones.
Russia has not commented on the alleged strikes. It has previously strongly denied targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Moscow launched a military offensive in Ukraine in late February 2022 after recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), claiming that Kiev had failed to guarantee their special status under the 2014 Minsk Agreements, and urging Ukraine to declare itself officially neutral and give assurances that it would never join NATO.
Kiev denounced the Russian action as an invasion. Zelensky imposed martial law throughout the country, announcing a general mobilisation, while the EU and the US imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
