Description

Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov told reporters that Russia has already exported more than 15 million tons of grain as part of the grain deal, as well as "a large amount of mineral fertilizers," while speaking on the sidelines of the APEC summit on Friday

"Supplies go primarily to developing and the poorest countries," the politician stressed.

Belousov added that thanks to "quite tangible" supplies of Russian grain, prices for it stabilised and "even went down."

The First Deputy Prime Minister also commented on the sentiments of foreign colleagues during the summit.

"I have an absolutely accurate conviction that the understanding that it is impossible to solve any of the major global problems without Russia is present," Belousov said.

According to him, the leaders of the countries approached the discussion constructively, as "there was no confusion, attempts to reproach each other, there was no desire to build any individual strategies."

"Basically, the emphasis was on what we need to get out of this situation together," the politician said.

On November 2, Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that due to the receipt of written guarantees from Kiev about the non-use of the humanitarian corridor and Ukrainian ports for conducting military operations against the Russian Federation, Moscow resumed participation in the grain deal.

On November 12, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at the XVII East Asian Summit in Phnom Penh that Russia was using the "Black Sea Initiative" as a lever of pressure, and called on the Russian Federation to "stop the Hunger Games."

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a press conference at the G20 summit in Bali, said that the United States and the EU had given UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres written promises to implement the second package of the Black Sea Initiative and unblock the export of Russian fertilisers and grain, but "practical results have not been achieved by and large."

The theme of the APEC 2022 meeting is "Openness. Connection. Balance". The leaders are expected to discuss the recovery of the global economy and trade after the pandemic, climate problems and prospects for cooperation between APEC members.

The APEC Summit is being held on November 18-19 for the first time in full-time format after a two-year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
