Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is engaged in a 'seven-front war' with Iran and its proxies while speaking at a meeting with a delegation of retired US generals and admirals in Tel Aviv on Thursday.

"Their goal is to have a combined ground offensive from various fronts, coupled with a combined missile bombardment. We've been given the opportunity to scuttle it, and we will," he said.

Netanyahu explained that Israel's 'first requirement' is to 'get rid' of Hamas in the Gaza Strip before it can focus on threats from militias in Iraq, Syria and the West Bank, as well as Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen.

The Israeli prime minister also warned that Iran's 'axis' is on a 'march to conquer' the Arabian Peninsula, the broader Middle East and beyond.

"It's just a question of time, and what's standing in their way is the 'small Satan', that's us, on the road to the 'middle-sized Satans', that's the Europeans," he said. "We have to stop them."

Tensions have flared between Israel and Iran after the Hamas offensive of October 7 and the subsequent IDF military campaign in the Gaza Strip. Hostilities reached boiling point in April when Tehran launched a barrage of rockets and drones towards Israel in response to the alleged airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

Meanwhile, Houthi forces have targeted Israeli, American and British ships, including oil tankers in the Red Sea, warning companies against dealing with Israel, saying that the action was a response to the military intervention in Gaza.

Throughout the crisis in the Middle East, Hezbollah and Israel have frequently exchanged fire along the Lebanese border, with the IDF targeting senior commanders and what it describes as 'terrorist infrastructure'.

Earlier in the month, Chief of General Staff of Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) Herzi Halevi claimed Israel is 'building solutions to deal with' capabilities demonstrated by Hezbollah while United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned the region 'cannot afford' Lebanon to 'become another Gaza'.
